Dmitry Samarov, a long-time Eager To Know guest, has always fascinated me with his artwork and writings. It was a pleasure when he joined me on my recent trip to the Midwest. His publication, To Whom It May Concern, is a collection of letters he penned in response to letters he discovered from his past—a fascinating exploration of “New answers to Old letters.” It’s a truly thoughtful and enjoyable read.
In this episode of Eager To Know, we dive into what Dmitry has been creating in his artwork and writings.
He’s recently begun illustrating books that have entered the public domain, such as Herman Melville’s Moby Dick and Sinclair Lewis’ Babbitt.
Our conversation about the value of copying great works of art on this episode sparked an idea for this blog article: https://www.rickymceachernartist.com/rmablog/power-of-copying
We also chatted about a podcast he used to co-host, which I was a big fan of—Horrocast. You can find it here.
I truly enjoy our conversations, and I hope you find our discussion entertaining.
